IPEK-Definition (dt.)
Eine freie Skizze (FS) ist eine zweidimensionale (2D) Darstellung von technischen Inhalten, die zur Unterstützung von Engineering-Aufgaben z. B. in FES verwendet wird. Eine FS und ihr grafischer Inhalt dürfen keine formale Beschreibung haben und dürfen nur wenige Aspekte des Systems darstellen. FS können auf jede geeignete Weise erstellt werden, die eine 2D-Darstellung erzeugt, wie z. B: Zeichnen (von Hand oder mit einer Zeichensoftware), Fotografieren (z. B. von technischen Objekten), Erstellen von Screenshots (z. B. von 3D-Geometriemodellen, die mit Engineering-Tools wie CAD-Software erstellt wurden), usw. Diese Abbildungen können modifiziert werden (z. B. durch Hinzufügen von Markierungen), um bestimmte Informationen zu vermitteln.

A free sketch (FS) is a two-dimensional (2D) illustration of technical content used to support engineering tasks e.g. in FES. A FS and its graphical content may have no formal description1 and may depict only a few aspects of the system. FSes can be created in every suitable way that generates a 2D illustration, such as: Drawing (by hand or using a drawing software), taking pictures (e.g. of technical objects), taking screenshots (e.g. of 3D geometry models created with engineering tools like CAD software), etc. These illustrations may be modified (e.g. by adding markings) in order to convey specific information.
