IPEK-Definition (dt.)
Der Begriff Funktion ist für den Produktentwickler nur im Umgang mit Modellen von technischen Systemen anwendbar. Sie ist die Umwandlung von Input zu Output, die in dem modellierten System abgebildet wird. Sie entsteht aus der Interaktion von Gestaltelementen und kann nicht direkt beeinflusst werden.

The term function is only applicable to the product developer when dealing with models of technical systems. It is the conversion of input to output, which is mapped in the modeled system. It arises from the interaction of design elements and can not be directly influenced.
