Ensuring robustness to various of deviations is crucial to the success of a product. Therefore, early robustness evaluation is an elementary cornerstone for the efficient development of a robust product. A less robust concept can never lead to a robust product, or only with great effort. Understanding robust design is therefore a key competence in product development. Robustness evaluation in the concept phase offers great potential for increasing the efficiency of the entire product development process, as change costs increase exponentially late in the development process.
