Prompt Engineering for Automated Vehicle Validation

Project Description:
Join a groundbreaking project focused on revolutionizing the validation of automated vehicles (AVs) through innovative use of large language models (LLMs). This project will provide you with the chance to contribute to innovative testing methodologies that expand beyond traditional limitations, offering valuable hands-on experience in a cutting-edge area of AV development. You will harness the power of LLMs to conceptualize scenarios that encompass a wide array of driving conditions, with a focus on both common and rare situations that AVs must handle.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and evaluate different prompt engineering methods to identify the most effective approaches for creating functional scenarios for AV testing
  • You will learn how to develop and refine prompts for LLMs to create diverse and comprehensive driving scenarios
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the scenarios are realistic and adequately extensive to cover a broad spectrum of driving conditions.

Qualifications:

  • A strong interest in the intersection of AI and real-world applications
  • Experience or coursework in AI, machine learning (practical experience in LLMs is a plus)
  • Upper intermediate programming skill with Python

Our offer:

  • Possibility of choosing this topic for your thesis or working as a HiWi
  • Opportunity to work part of the project at Royal Holloway, University of London, engaging directly with project partners
  • Challenging tasks in applied research and development in close contact with industry
  • Contribute to cutting-edge research projects with close supervision and the potential for scientific publications
  • Extensive flexibility (Remote/On-site) for good harmony with your student obligations
  • Possibility for long-term HiWi contract up to 80 hours/month
