Development engineer (f/m/d): Practical teaching through prototypical and content-related development of models for machine design

At the Chair of Device Design and Machine Elements, we work with partners from industry on practical solutions to specific problems and drive innovation. Our practice-oriented teaching focuses on learning through personal experience in interdisciplinary product development.

 

Your mission with us

Involvement in practice-oriented teaching
In your position, you will be in constant contact with the professors responsible for teaching machine design. Together with a team of teaching assistants, you will support the prototypical and content-related development of machine design models for the semester's students. Your involvement will help to make teaching more practical and support learning through your own experience. Depending on your interests and requirements, you may also be involved in research tasks.

Your work will include the following activities:

  • Preparation of gearbox models for a new teaching concept, incl. disassembly of the gearboxes and preparation as cutaway models for lectures
  • Construction and reproduction of the gearboxes as 3D models in CAD that can be additively manufactured
  • Creation of quantitative models of the functionality and transmission ratio in the gearbox
  • Preparation of the findings and the quantitative functional models as a set of slides for a lecture

 

Your profile

  • Education: You have a university or university of applied sciences degree (Dipl.-Ing. or Master) in an engineering degree program.
    • Training as an industrial mechanic or comparable training is an advantage
    • Manual skills and experience in the assembly of technical systems
    • Advanced knowledge and routine in the use of CAD programs such as PTC Creo Parametrics.
  • Languages: You speak fluent German or are very motivated to learn German. You are not only fluent in English, but can also express yourself appropriately in writing.
  • Team player with self-drive: Your working style is characterized by team spirit, independence, a systematic approach and commitment.
  • Analytical thinking: You have a good capacity for abstraction and are prepared to think outside the box in your specialist discipline.
  • Technical creativity: You show an interest in modeling, design methods and innovative product development processes.
