Development and Optimization of Exoskeletons

Development and Optimization of Exoskeletons

Our vision

At the Chair of Power Tools and Machine Elements, we focus our research on the field of data-driven product development. The aim of our research and development activities is to support the design and testing of mechatronic systems with application-oriented methods and solutions. We work closely with partners from industry to find solutions to specific problems and drive innovation. We use both simulative and experimental approaches for implementation. In doing so, we make use of IPEK's first-class equipment with numerous test benches, modern measurement technology and simulation tools.

Your mission with us

Scientific excellence
Contribute to the development and optimization of exoskeletons for use under changing and demanding working conditions. As part of your work, you will carry out experimental studies to determine the stress and strain when using exoskeletons and hand tools. You will use co-simulation analyses to develop models of the human hand-arm system and combine these with exoskeleton models. You will create regression models to estimate the workload and the required support force. Your area of responsibility also includes human-in-the-loop optimization, in which you adapt the control parameters of the exoskeleton to the current work situation and the individual needs of the person. The aim is to develop a method to advance the development and optimization of exoskeletons, to automatically adapt the support of the exoskeleton and thus minimize the workload of humans and increase efficiency.
You will present your research results at national and international conferences and network with leading experts to make your findings accessible to a global research community. The scientific goal in our team is a doctorate.
